I'm tempted to make a video on why privilege is a fucking stupid concept that makes people see others differently in a bad light,
But I fear it would go viral and I cannot be bothered to repeat the same point over and over again.
To sum up my point:
The MINUTE you stop thinking about privilege and what sets us apart, you will start thinking about what sets us together. If you think every day about what defines everyone differently, then you will never see people equally.
The privilege belief sets people apart on what people are fundamentally. I know I didn’t ask to be a white male heterosexual, and I know that everyone on the planet didn’t ask their mother in the womb: “Excuse me, can I be this this and this” so who are you to judge me on what I am or what I’m not?
Do you think that I’m incapable of understanding a point because I’m white?
Do you think a point you make in a debate will be backwards to me because I’m male?
Do you think I could never comprehend something because I like women?
Thinking anyone is a certain something, and therefore they cannot do something is not only patronizing, but it’s demoralizing and a negative attitude that reinforces segregation and divides between ALL people.
Stop talking about how different we are, and start thinking that we are ALL human. We are ALL the same, in many many ways, more ways than you can think we’re not.
So take the negative “we’re so different” and replace it with a positive “you’re not so different to me, let’s share a cookie.”
I can’t believe I’m having to type this, really. I mean is it that hard to love your fellow man because of who they are? Why would you look down on someone because they’re a certain something?
I know this post will be reblogged, and maybe a reaction gif added or some shit, but I will stick by my point.
I will NEVER say: “Well, you’re a LGBT coloured woman, and thus you have no grounds in my discussion” EVER. Because that woman never asked to be that, she didn’t CHOOSE, she didn’t sit down and THINK about who she’s going to be, she is who she is, and thus, I will not judge.
So fuck you for judging, and fuck you for making walls where there never should be, and fuck you for trying to push that on others. It’s irritating and not needed.
